Former VFUA President Daniel Butcher has had a rollercoaster 18 months in football. From taking the reigns as president of the association at the beginning of the season to umpiring the 2015 VFL Grand Final, it seems Butcher’s enormous achievements have not gone unnoticed from Vicsport.
Vicsport, the independent member-based organisation representing Victoria’s sport and active recreation sector, have nominated Butcher for their upcoming Victorian Sports Award in the category of Victorian Sports Official of the Year award.
Only 8 officials have been nominated and Butcher the only one from the Australian Rules category, underlying how massive this nomination is.
We wish Daniel all the best for the upcoming ceremony on March 9.
You can follow all the action of the event by following the hashtag #VicSportAwards or go to www.vicsport.com.au/awards.
Daniel has umpired 48 VFL games, including the 2015 VFL Grand Final & was the VFL Field Umpire of the Year in 2015.
